3 Sheriff Deputies killed in the explosion at the Training Center for the Application of the Law in Los Angeles

Three agents of the Los Angeles County Sheriff were killed in an explosion at a law training center on Friday, county officials said.

The victims seemed to be handling explosives when there was an explosion, sources told ABC News. The Biscail TRAINING Center in Monterey Park, a special complex of the Control Control Office, also houses the pump squad, the fountains said.

An incident was reported in the Special Complex of the Sheriff Control Office of the Los Angeles County in East Los Angeles on July 18, 2025.

The cause of the explosion is not known, according to the County Supervisor, Janice Hahn.

Fire investigators caused by the alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives office and the Los Angeles Fire Department are among those who respond, said Mayor Karen Bass. The FBI is also on the scene, said Attorney General Pamela Bondi.

“This is an extraordinarily painful day for the department of our Sheriff and for Los Angeles County. My prayers are with the families of the deputies and their colleagues in the police who are recovering from this tragedy,” said Hahn in a statement. “I am offering my full support to our Sheriff Robert Luna and his department, since they not only work to support our deputies, but to investigate what went so bad. We need to reach the bottom of what happened and make sure that it never happens again.”

“Please, pray throughout the department of the Sheriff of the Los Angeles County,” Bondi wrote on social networks.
